Welcome
The advent of non-coding RNA research and the popularity of RNAi as an experimental tool means that there are now many scientists in Australia who work on some aspect of RNA Biology.
We believe that a critical mass has been reached to make the formation of some form of special interest group with the focus on RNA a worthwhile exercise. The idea is on the one hand that such a group could facilitate exchange of information among us (about experimental results, availability of tools, open positions etc). On the other hand, it may help to raise our profile in the wider scientific community.
The group or network should appeal to anyone working with RNA in some form, whether it is their main focus or forms part of their overall research activities. To provide some organisational framework to the network, it could be arranged under the auspices of ASBMB, as a special interest group.
